Leak detection
31-03-2009
Economize on air – leak detection in compressed air systems.
Compressed air is energy and an expensive resource. Actual efficiency of compressed air is approx. 5%. The remaining 95% is lost heat. Even a small reduction of the compressed air consumption will therefore result in large savings on the electricity bill and the CO2 account.
Typically 20-40% of the produced air disappears through leaks. Primarily leakages appear through leaks in the pipe system, gaskets, valves and joints and machinery connections.
In cooperation with HYTOR you can have the compressed air system of your company checked with an ultrasonic measurer and have any leaks traced. The equipment is very sensitive and measuring can be conducted even under the influence of noise from the production.
The leaks are marked and listed in an energy report, which is handed over to the company. The energy report gives a quick view of the cost saving potential and contains an estimate of what the cost for repairing the leaks would be and a specification of spare parts and labour cost. Normally the repayment period is less than 6 months.
The leak detection can be conducted as required. It is always a good idea to measure before the company invests in larger compressor capacity due to lack of air in the production.
